Tonight is game 7 of the World Series. Unfortunately at the end of the game, there will be a winner and there will also be a loser.
Fortunately for the rest of us business isn’t a zero sum game.
Yet we tend to treat it that way.
But what if we were able to shift our perspective?
Speaking of which, I want to tell you one of my favorite “stories” about perspective shifts…
Little Boy, in a baseball hat
Stands in the field with his ball and bat
Says I am the greatest player of them all
Puts his bat on his shoulder and he tosses up his ball
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down
Swings his bat all the way around
The world’s so still you can hear the sound
The baseball falls to the ground
Now the little boy doesn’t say a word
Picks up his ball, he is undeterred
Says I am the greatest there has ever been
And he grits his teeth and he tries it again
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down
Swings his bat all the way around
The world’s so still you can hear the sound
The baseball falls to the ground
He makes no excuses, He shows no fears
He just closes his eyes and listens to the cheers
Little boy, he adjusts his hat
Picks up his ball, stares at his bat
Says I am the greatest the game is on the line
And he gives his all one last time
And the ball goes up like the moon so bright
Swings his bat with all his might
And the world’s so still as still can be
And the baseball falls, and that’s strike three
Now it’s supper time and his mama calls
Little boy starts home with his bat and ball
Says I am the greatest that is a fact
But even I didn’t know I could pitch like that
Were you expecting that ending?
It’s actually NOT a story. It’s the lyrics from the 1999 Kenny Rogers song The Greatest.
My favorite line?
There are many, but this one sums it up for me…
“He makes no excuses, he shows no fears, he just closes his eyes and listens to the cheers.”
Here’s the thing, we are all in that story…
Because that ball goes up and that ball goes down on us every single day. Sometimes we hit it, sometimes we swing and miss.
But what matters most is that we keep stepping up into the batters box of life and take our swings.
We need to have a short memory for failure and a long memory of success. And like the little boy, sometimes we just need to reframe and refocus.
Which is precisely why I’ve created something called the Stadium Status Club. It recognizes the high achieving underdogs in my membership community. And it involves a VERY symbolic award…
A custom souvenir baseball bat with their name engraved on it.
How do you gain entry to the Stadium Status Club?
Great question, I’m glad you asked.
Well first, you become a member of my inner circle.
Then you keep stepping into that batter’s box known as the business world every day and taking your swings.
And much like baseball, if you’re successful 3 out of 10 times as an entrepreneur, you’re an all-star.
And BOOM… Your’s Bruly will happily and proudly punch your ticket into Stadium Status Club when YOU hit one out of the park.
Just like I have done with the first class of Stadium Status Club Members this fall.
(drum roll)
Inductee #1:
Using my strategies, Tyler Brandt doubled his revenue year over year four consecutive years. And after building a healthy six figure business, he has now launched two new initiatives under his brand.
Inductee #2:
After joining my membership community, Jon Rennie published his first book and it landed on the Amazon Best-Seller list (and has stayed there which is a HUGE feat). A home run in his first at bat. How about that !!
These are the first two inductees in the Stadium Status Club.
There will be more soon because my beloved underdogs all step in that batters box every single day and take their swings.
